Thomas
Neville, finally understanding the secret relationship
between the demons and the angels, has managed to
build an uneasy relationship with once-friend, Hal
Bolingbroke. But if his friendship with Hal is not
what once it was, Neville finds himself spending more
and more time with Hal's wife, the ailing Mary Bohun.
His
growing relationship with Mary drives a wedge between
Neville and Margaret, but Neville is prepared to risk
his marriage if it means finding the secret to Mary's
serenity.
But
Neville is hiding his own secret, and when the angels
confront him, Neville finally has to accept that he
has never had any choice at all, and that he must
choose for the angels.
Or
must he?
