The online world can be a scary place, but also a fun and free one. With so much to do and exploring it is almost like traveling the world from the comfort of your own home. This is what Susan discovered on a cold, rainy day when exploring the physical world was not too much of an option.
While the rain poured down, she was sitting at home waiting for the grace of the sun to appear once more. Her husband, and she had planned on taking a hike through the woods exploring the physical nature of life that is much different from that of the city.
So there they are Susan, staring out into the rain. While her husband sat beside her playing on his phone. He looked up at his bored-looking wife and said,
“Honey, why not play a game to pass the time? That’s why we have wi-fi and a computer.”
Susan had hated the idea of bringing technology into a nature-inspired world. She and her husband argued over it but in the end, he won. And, at this moment her husband was right in his findings. They needed to do something and there were a lot of games online. He had said while they were packing the day prior that there will be days like these.
So, she got up and took out the well-packed laptop and plugged it in. It came to life greeting her with a small “Hi”. She entered the wi-fi password that her husband had set up through his phone, and she went online. She had no idea where to start or where to go. So she remembered back to her childhood of playing video games on the floor.
But, none of those old games came to mind. She searched her memories in search of something… anything. And finally, she came across a little moment.
This little moment when she was about five/ six years old. Able to walk and run. Her parents had taken her out to dinner one even at a fancy place that had a casino nearby. Her father had sneaked off and she followed without catching her mother’s eye. He had to what she now knew was a casino.
She was a tiny child making it easy to sneak past the security and catch up to her father. He was sitting in front of a slot machine. She did not remember the name, the game, or how to play. But what she did recall was the calm smile that graced his face as they watched the wheels spin.
She tugged at his pants, and he looked down, in surprise that turned to a little burst of laughter.
Susan! You little sneak. Your mother is going to blow. Haha.
He said as he picked her up and placed him on his knee to watch the pictures spin. This moment did not last since she was clearly, obviously, and definitely, underage and her father and her were asked to leave. Her mother found them and her father was right about her blowing up. But, all little Susan focused on was the spinning pictures of the slot.
Therefore, adult Susan typed in “free online slots” and everything came to light. She knew she did not have money to spend and just wanted something to pass the time. So she played for a bit. While doing, so she was transported to different little worlds with images and sounds. She did find it odd that an online slot machine can do such, but she did not care.
While playing, she explored the worlds that the slots had to offer, amazed at the creativity, and a bit of storytelling that went into them. Well, the good ones anyway. As the rain went on she played and her husband even joined making it a fun co-op game. The rain settled and the moon began to shine. So, they took a little walk away from the digital world. It was a comfort that they could return to it at any time.
