Magic Wand – A short Bedtime Story For Children

It was a quiet, clear, clear night. Only the wind rustled with fluffy spruce paws. In the sky, the stars mysteriously whispered and winked and the yellow moon shone brightly.

The forest dwellers finished their good deeds and were already preparing to lie down in warm beds of herbs to watch berry dreams. They washed their faces and sat down to look at the sky and count the stars.

Suddenly, there was a noise and a breeze “Whoo!”. – breeze shook the stars from the sky. It became dark, like in a jar of blueberry jam.

Only the proud yellow moon was left in the sky. She looked back and rejoiced: “At last I am alone in the whole sky! And everyone looks only at me!”

But not for long the Moon rejoiced. Soon it became sad alone.

And the animals were upset. When they counted the stars before sleeping, they always fell asleep sweetly. And the moon could not be counted, because it was alone.

So how will we sleep now? Where have our stars gone? Who will help us to find them?

The little snail was upset, hedgehogs were grumbling, and owls were grumbling: “Mm-hmm”.

The little animals sat in a row and were completely loaded.

A mosquito flew by, heard the animals sighing hard, and said:

I know who will help you! Sheep from Sweet Dreams Company! They are kind and come to the aid of all who call them!

The animals decided to listen to the mosquito and call for help sheep.

Sheep from the Sweet Dream Company were noisy, funny and always went together. They had warm white curly coats, and on the necks – beautiful little bells. They rang when the sheep moved their legs.

Each sheep had a special sound of a bell. So sheep heard each other in the dark or when walking alone in the green mountains or wide meadows. They took off their bells only when they played hide and seek.

The Head Lamb commanded the Company. She was the smartest and calmest.

“Ding-ding” ringed the bells – the sheep went to save the stars.

“Hee-hee” was heard from the pond. The sheep looked closer and saw that something shines at its bottom.

These are ancient gold coins, lost by pirates! – one sheep rejoiced.

No, these are fireflies swimming! – answered the other one.

Coins can not laugh, and fireflies swim in the leaves! – strictly answered the Chief Sheep. – This must be the stars!

Rejoiced sheep, rattled, jingled bells.

They took out the rods and sang their funny song. The curious stars heard the song and responded to the beautiful sounds.

They pulled all the stars out of the pond and hung them to dry on a rope.

But the naughty stars didn’t want to dry: they were wet, dull and didn’t want to shine at all. They only giggled, winked and talked with their feet. And one of them, the smallest, even showed its tongue to the Head Lamb.

The stars got sick! They do not burn! – the sheep were upset and flooded with their legs.

Thought the Chief Lamb and decided to ask for advice from the wise Firefly. He knows exactly how to shine!

Firefly lived on the neighboring edge in the hollow of an old thick tree.

At the entrance to his house, a lantern was always brightly lit, so everyone around knew that Firefly lived here. Instead of a mat he had maple leaves, and instead of a crib – walnut shell.

So how do we get to the house Firefly? – The sheep made a noise. – There is no ladder, and we can not climb trees!

We started bouncing sheep. “Ding-dong” – the bells were ringing. Lambs jumped, jumped and all could not get into the house. Then, the Chief Lamb thought and came up with a ladder of sheep. They stood on each other’s backs and came to visit Firefly.

Firefly rejoiced at the guests and lighted up with joy. And when he heard that they came for advice – shone even more. He was kind and liked to give advice even when he was not asked. And when they asked him, he was in seventh heaven with happiness.

He made a delicious firefly tea with raspberries and treated everyone.

They told him their story. About how the mischievous breeze played and blew all the stars into the pond. And now all the forest dwellers are sad without stars and can’t sleep. Because they always count the stars before going to sleep.

Listened to Firefly and gave the sheep a magic wand.

Take it! I don’t need it – I glow without it when in a good mood. And you will touch the stars with the wand, and they will be like new! But first, tell them how much you love them!

Thank you, Firefly! – said the sheep, hugged him and ran the stars to treat.

Lambs sat on their clouds with motors and flew to the sky. They stroked each star with a magic wand. Each of them whispered a kind word in the ear. Washed stars smiled and shone like the old one.
They understood that kind words heal and are as strong as a magic wand.

Everyone rejoiced and laughed. Sheep started dancing a funny dance. “Ding-ding”, “tili-dong” was heard in the forest.

And Firefly came out on the edge, saw the bright stars in the sky and shone with happiness even more.

Everything in the forest became in its place. The animals returned to the cottages and, as usual before going to bed, sat on the wing to count the stars.

The stars burned brightly like garlands on a Christmas tree.

Only the hooligan wind was hiding and rustling in the leaves of trees.

Where are you, a bad boy? I will show you how to blow stars out of the sky! – I heard the gentle voice of the wind’s mother. My mother stroked my son and pressed the breeze of my ears to the ground.

And it became quiet and quiet. Leaves were frozen, bugs were silenced, and berries were hidden. Even the wind did not rustle.

Happy animals fell asleep.

And sheep settled down comfortably on fluffy white clouds and began to count the stars.

The main sheep covered all with warm blankets and relaxed. Yawned once, another and also closed her eyes.

They fell asleep sweet and sweet. And they dreamt of warm cotton candy…

“One asterisk, two asterisks, three…” – fall asleep and you, baby.
