My Favorite YouTube Downloader

Youtube is great. You can find numerous fun and useful videos here. But sometimes, a video is too long to watch in one bite — and sometimes, you might want it when you won’t have access to speedy internet. That’s what happened to me.

I was going to go to another country facing a 3-hour flight. And I just discovered this guy on Youtube who was filming quite long videos about cars and off-roading. I wanted to watch some of those videos on a plane because there is nothing to do during the flight after all. And since it wasn’t an early or late flight, sleeping for 3 hours wasn’t an option, too.

So I started to looking for a decent service that would allow me to download those videos in good quality without making me pay or harming my device in any way. And let me tell you, it appears to be quite a tricky task. My antivirus was roaring as I popped on a couple of websites — I left them instantly. Other websites seemed to work until I actually tried downloading the video and was greeted with an error. A couple of websites wanted me to send an SMS to a certain number to pay for downloading.

But eventually, I found a website that seemed just fine. My antivirus was cool about it, I faced zero errors, and finally, I downloaded my video in good quality. My joy was endless! I’m saved from 3-hour boredom not just by some book or movie but by videos I was obsessed with for a couple of days.

This website was called oDownloader, and I was so grateful for it that I decided to share it with the world. Let me tell you more about it.

Simple yet effective

oDownloader doesn’t look like most downloaders. It has this sleek and pleasant interface, no ads — I even turned off my Ad blocker to check this — and it doesn’t ask you for anything. No requests of email address, access to anything, let alone payments. You just download your video and you’re good to go.

All you need to do is to enter a link to a Youtube video you want to download into the field. The service starts working. The processing speed depends on the length of the video — my 30-minute clip took about 10 minutes. Might sound not fast, but remember that you don’t have to do anything. I just kept watching other videos while that one was being processed. Then I just clicked “Download”, and soon enough the clip was on my device. oDownloaded didn’t lose any quality, and the picture remained clear.

Moreover, you can use oDownloader to download videos from Instagram and Facebook. And you can convert Youtube videos to MP3 files which I find useful for podcasts — if you don’t have Youtube Premium, it will be a convenient way for you to listen to a podcast on the go. Finally, oDownloader allows you to cut a Youtube video into a smaller clip. Maybe someone will find it useful but I don’t really need this feature.

You can even download oDownloader to your computer — the service claims that this way you will get faster processing and downloading speeds. I, however, didn’t test that out.

I am extremely happy I found this tool, and I’m sure, many of you will find it useful, too. As the skies are getting more open worldwide, I anticipate all the traveling I’m about to experience. And that means quite many flights during which I will need something to keep me entertained and distracted from the fact that I’m flying in a giant thing at 40,000 feet above the ground. But that’s still better than spending incomparably more hours on a train, right? No Youtube downloader would’ve saved me there.

So, I just wanted to share this cool tool with you because it’s very simple and, most importantly, safe. I didn’t catch any malware from it, so that’s something. Use it and I hope, my karma will gain an improvement for that I shared oDownloader with you.
